Hello everyone. I'm Carolyn - your teacher for this semester. I'd like to welcome you all to the class and look forward to working with you. I'm going to start by telling you a bit about myself, then you can do the same by replying to this message.
Firstly, I've been an English teacher here in Portugal for over 20 years now. I'm married and my husband is Portuguese. Some of the things I like about the country are the sunshine and blue skies, and the emptiness of the countryside. I live in the country, across the river from Santarém and I love the open horizons and the wildlife. But I like Lisbon too, although I wouldn't like to live there again. Too much air pollution I also love a nice dish of grilled fish, salad, fresh bread and a nice glass of chilled wine. Perfect! I also love working in the garden (when it isn't too hot), reading, travelling, cooking and eating.
My first two degrees are in microbiology, but I totally changed area when I came to Portugal and like the fact that I feel at home in both the sciences and the arts (although I can't claim to being very artistic).
